Perfect Spaghetti Bolognese!
A hearty, slow-simmered meat sauce infused with rich flavors—ideal for a comforting Italian-inspired meal!
Ingredients:
- 12 oz (340g) spaghetti
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small onion (finely chopped)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 medium carrot (finely diced)
- 1 celery stalk (finely diced, optional)
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- ½ cup beef broth
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil (or a few fresh basil leaves)
- ½ tsp salt (adjust to taste)
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp sugar (optional, to balance acidity)
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan (for serving)
Instructions:
- Cook the Pasta:
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Prepare the Sauce:
- Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.
- Sauté onion, garlic, carrot, and celery until softened (about 5 minutes).
- Add ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned.
- Simmer the Sauce:
- Stir in tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, and broth.
- Add oregano, basil, salt, pepper, and sugar.
- Simmer uncovered for at least 20–30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
- Assemble & Serve:
- Toss the spaghetti with the sauce or serve it on top.
- Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and fresh basil if desired.
