Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional, for added depth of flavor)
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce (optional, for sweetness)
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil (for stir-frying)
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for cooking)
  • 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced (any color)
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1/2 cup snow peas
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, minced
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar or lime juice
  • Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
  • Green onions, sliced (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

1. Marinate the Beef:

  • In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and cornstarch.
  • Add the thinly sliced beef to the marinade and toss to coat. Let it sit for about 10–15 minutes.

2. Prepare the Vegetables:

  • While the beef is marinating, slice the bell pepper, onion, carrot, and snow peas.
  • Steam or blanch the broccoli if desired, or keep it raw for a crispier texture.

3. Stir-Fry the Beef:

  • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat.
  • Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes, until it’s browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set it aside.

4. Stir-Fry the Vegetables:

  • In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of oil and heat it.
  • Add the garlic and ginger, sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Add the sliced onion, carrot, bell pepper, broccoli, and snow peas. Stir-fry for 3–5 minutes until they’re tender but still vibrant and crisp.

5. Combine and Finish:

  • Add the cooked beef back into the skillet with the vegetables.
  • Drizzle sesame oil and rice vinegar over the stir-fry, and stir everything together until well combined.
  • Cook for another 2–3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

6. Serve & Garnish:

  • Serve the stir-fry over steamed rice or noodles.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions, if desired.

Tips & suggestions:

  • For extra heat, add chili flakes or sliced chili peppers during the stir-frying process.
  • To make it low-carb, serve with zucchini noodles or cauliflower rice instead of regular rice.
  • For a richer sauce, add a splash of teriyaki sauce or sweet soy sauce.
