Perfect Spaghetti Bolognese!

A hearty, slow-simmered meat sauce infused with rich flavors—ideal for a comforting Italian-inspired meal!

Ingredients:

  • 12 oz (340g) spaghetti
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 medium carrot (finely diced)
  • 1 celery stalk (finely diced, optional)
  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil (or a few fresh basil leaves)
  • ½ tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp sugar (optional, to balance acidity)
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan (for serving)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Pasta:
    • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
    • Cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Sauce:
    • Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.
    • Sauté onion, garlic, carrot, and celery until softened (about 5 minutes).
    • Add ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned.
  3. Simmer the Sauce:
    • Stir in tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, and broth.
    • Add oregano, basil, salt, pepper, and sugar.
    • Simmer uncovered for at least 20–30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
  4. Assemble & Serve:
    • Toss the spaghetti with the sauce or serve it on top.
    • Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and fresh basil if desired.
